I started with these rods a long time ago. They are great rods!

I have the 6'6 med spinning. It has really served me well. The grip is really comfortable, balance is spot on, and has good sensitivity. Haven't missed a hook set yet on my t-rig zoom worms, which is mostly what I use this rod for. Some people value the triumph more since it has the same rod blank just with different guides and a lower price.

I have the 7' Med. Spinning. It's a great rod and has handled anything I have thrown at it. Blows my buddys Abu away in the sensitivity department...actually all departments!

Premiers are good rods. I used them a while back. I have moved up the St. croix line since then, but if it wasn't for the premiere the other rods I have,  ie avid and ltb's would have not peeked my curiosity. 

I have a 7' medium heavy / medium.  I have several higher-end rods (including higher-end St. Croix rods), and I really do enjoy my Premier.  Good rod.

Nice rod overall, good all around action, nice and sensitive and its made in the USA! Is it as good as my LTB or 13 ***? No, but for 130bucks it kicks a lot of butt in its price point...way better than the mojo for sure imo

I have it paired with a citica 201e and it has performed flawlessly for me goin on five years...i use it for texas rigs mostly but i have been known to use it with squarebills as well

The Premier is a very good rod, and in my opinion trumps any other rod close to it's price range. It is 100% built in Park Falls Wisconsin, by people who have been doing it for more years than any other rod manufacturer in the USA. Try one but remember,,, the Made in Mexico rods are made by people that are all new to rod building,,,,,to me that makes an obvious difference!!  I own 23 St. Croix rods and every one was built in the same plant,,,,,,,,,,,,,yep USA!

They're priced way better than Loomis though. Loomis you're solely paying for the name. St Croix offers comparable rods at nearly half the cost.

The legend extreme rods are $400+. For some of you guys that a good price, but for me, that's very expensive for only one rod. The good thing about that price point is lifetime warranty witch i would imagine for a 400 dollar rod. TFO makes one of the best rods for the money and gary loomis is involved 

St Croix makes the Avid which I compare to the GLX, both lifetime the GLX runs over $325.00 Street price the avid can be had in the same power action and length for around $160.00 new. The GL1 nad GL2 are not the rods the Avid I own are, and cost more.

 

The NRX is what you have to go to to compare apples to apples if you want to use the Legend Extreme or Elite for your high end example. Those two models  are as light and as sensitive with I believe better tapers than the NRX. and street price for the Elite is more like $310.00 to $360.00 depending on the model, the Extreme street prices are around $340.00 to $390.00 depending on model. You won't find an NRX for less than $450.00 to $550.00 depending on the model. I agree with Tywithay,,,,,you pay extra for just the name.

If I didn't own both and had only had "one" I would probably think the same thing. Then when your reasoning is good quality is enough, I agree you have no reason to want the highest quality, but trust me apples to apples the Avid and GLX are very very close performance wise, that being weight of blank, components used, sensitivity,  from the same powers and action compared side by side. like I said apples to apples.

Most Legend Xtreme models are under $400 and they're comparable to the NRX at $550ish. The GLX is closer to the Legend Tournament blank, in my experience. The main point of my post was that you get some value from St Croix, while Loomis you're paying a premium, with little value for your dollar. Those TFO rods have some design input from Gary Loomis, but he's not involved in the actual company or process.

I have the 6'6" MH casting rod.  Been using it as my jig rod for the last four years.  No complaints.
