Chronarch Ci4+ Braking System?

Featured Replies

I have a new Chronarch CI4 and it is an awesome reel, but if am just not sure how to use the braking system on it. I am used to the external brakes on Tatulas. Any insight on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks

You can pretty much set the breaks to have two on and adjust the rest with the outside knob that controls the break case. I have heard that Shimano breaking system are a bit more forgiving than the Daiwa(Never used a Daiwa before), and I can tell you that you can just set it and leave it for most of the part.

I started with 2 brakes on inside and adjusted the external as needed. Eventually ended up 1 on inside. I just set the spool tension for a slow fall and let it fly. It was a lot more finicky than my Tatula though. The Tatula I just tighten the tension enough to remove side to side movement, and the mag pretty much stays on 6 all the time unless it's windy. The CI4+ I had to use the external adjustment and tension a lot when changing baits.

Thanks! But how do I adjust the internal brakes? I know they have the red pins, but there seems to be 2 that will move up and down, and 2 that will move side to side.

Mine came with two internals set...havt got to play with it yet....

They are most likely a little stiff,  mine were.  I leave it at 2/2 and use the dial as well

when I set mine for a slow fall I seem to get a over spool mid cast, but it catches up by the end of the cast and it's fine.. I find I need to tighten line tension up more to stop this.. Then it doesn't really drop

I just uploaded a video to youtube setting the brakes.  Its processing Ill stick the link here when its done. Its a crappy video but you will get the basic idea.  Once they are not so stiff

its very easy just to slide on/off

Two different braking systems, Tatulas have magnetic brake while the Chronarch has centrifugal brake. Centrifugal brakes are adjusted by removing the non handle sideplate and activating a series of weights, actívate, close, make a few casts and readjust if needed.

Thanks everyone for your help! I think I understand now. I'll go out on the water and see, but by flipping in my hallway, I can already adjust the brakes perfectly.
