My Tool Box This Weekend.

Featured Replies

So, I just got a boat (Tracker TX17 w/ Merc 40) and started fishing again for the first time in 15+ years. It was my grandfather's boat, full of tackle and i've been driving myself crazy trying to catch fish.  Lure Overload!!! So i've decided to limit myself to a "lure type" per weekend.  This weekend is Soft Plastics, more specifically Senko's so here is my WarChest for the weekend, what do you think?

Nice! Most of my fish have been caught on Senkos or Senko like worms. Especially in those colors. I have the same rod and I love it for everything but very light plastics. I use wide gap worm hooks. How do those circle hooks work for you?

First of all congrats !!

Senko's are a great bait for those really really finicky days , not a bait I really like to fish with very often .

One of my favorite quotes is " it's far better to throw the wrong bait in the right place than it is to throw the right bait in the wrong place "

If your not catching fish , the Senko is a great way to build a little confidence , it also takes a tremendous amount of patience to fish , especially if your fish are deep , which they most likely are depending on what part of the country your in , if your going to limit yourself to soft plastics , I would allow yourself the worm and creature bait selection to be on the boat as well with a Texas rig or a Carolina rig .

Good luck and be safe !!!

I've been fishing the local lakes and just haven't found a working lure yet, hence why i'm switching to senko for the weekend.  I'll keep my worm bag with me, but i'm going to use the senko as much as possible.  A buddy and me are also going trophy hunting....there is a spot with 2 lakes less than a mile apart, one is super stumpy, troll only, has tons of lunkers, but they're tough to get to bite, we're gonna go catch some shiners at one lake, switch to the lunker lake and try to get a big dawg.

Might want to add the Fat Ika as another option.

Congrats on the boat. I consider senkos a year-round bait. You can catch fish on them just about anywhere to.Try throwing them weedless, with or without a pegged weight. BTW instead of limiting yourself to just one technique when you go out. Bring something to cover each part of the water column but only bring one or two of your favorite colors/sizes for each.

Judging by the hooks, you're going to wacky rig them?

Yes.  I bought those specific with the worms.  I've got some EWGs and shaky heads as well.  probly wont shaky senko, but who knows
