Hello, I'm fishing in Florida,from the bank. The lake is full of grass ,I'm fishing text.rig, lipless crankbaits even tried a chatter bait. Every cast I caught weeds, sometimes I couldn't even see my lure. I saw fish jumping but I just couldn't find the technique or color need for a catch. Now the grass I pulled in was green and crisp but it was so much, it took me out of the fishing mood . The water was dark not muddy but I couldn't see more than a foot or two, can anyone help me with what i should be doing when fishing this area, as well as lure colors. P.S. I haven't slept good since my trip I need to find out what I did wrong I feel helpless . Thanks for all your help

Try a Producto Buzz Tail Shad, T-rig, weightless.  Reel it just fast enough to bring it to the surface and it will buzz like a small buzz bait.  Let it sink and lay on top of the weeds and repeat or just cast and retrieve.  Color will depend on what the fish are feeding on.  They have a large color selection.

There are a number of presentations that you could use, most of them are top water.  If the grass is submergent, shallow running cranks and spinnerbaits or lighter weight lipless cranks fished above the tops of the grass can be effective.

Two alternatives that can be used both on top and sub-surface are minnow plugs (if the grass doesn't grow to the surface) and weightless worms.

Speed worms can be buzzed accross or just below the surface. Floating worms will call bass up from the grass and Senko style worms can be paused and allowed to fall into openings.  The one thing all will have in common is the way you rig them and for that I recommend they be hooked like a true Texas rig without the weight. I don't mean skin hooked with an EWG hook. I'm talking a straight shank worm hook inserted on a slight downward angle an reinserted at an angle that keeps the worm straight.  Don't push the hook's point out of the worm, a good hookset will do that when needed and don't forget to cover your knot with the tip of the worm to prevent weeds from catching on it.  Add a little MegaStrike or other oil based attractant and the majority of the clinging weeds won't be a problem.

Pearl or baby bass fluke. weightless

Rage Shad and Rage Toad can both be rigged virtually weedless.

 

 

 

 

Thanks fellas, gonna give it another go. I have all of said lures, those weeds just took me out of my game plan. I bet that's what separate the pros from a regular guy, the ability to adapt to all situations

Try a football jig with a trailer and a trailer hook i like the tour grade ones strike king makes

my favorite technique for this is a really streamline swim jig. Comes through the grass really well

I would try a super fluke on a weighted ewg hook with short constant jerks through the grass. Make sure you skin hook the bait.

I would start off with a little darker. It's like a white body grey top but I'd get several differnt colors to experiment with.

Also a weightless senko t rigged with same motion should work also.

If you're pulling in that much grass it may be to thick to fish through from the bank without being directly on top of it. I would resort to top water. Frogs and worms on the surface. Also try a swim jig clean through the salad. If there is any space between the top of the grass and the surface, try fishing a light 3/16 Oz lipless crank just below the surface. Make sure your rod and line are equipped to get the bass out once you hook up.
