I am looking for a new reel and rod setup, i figured out the rod i want but just when i think i found a reel another pops up. i found these 2 reels and cannot seem to figure out what the different between the two of them are.

The RG has a lot more reviews and better reviews but when i read descriptions of both they seem exact same. Sorry for dumb question i am really new to fresh water fishing and just trying not too get ripped off.

Same reel, one uses a rear drag tightening knob, the other uses the standard front drag tightening cap.

is there an advantage using one over another?

One is a front drag model with the drag washers and adjustment on the spool. The other is a rear drag with a knob on the back. One works as well as the other. Arguments can be made one way or the other but can't be substantiated beyond personal experience/opinion. I hate the trigger operated bail. They can get to be an issue over time. IMO there are better reels at that price point, Pflueger President for one.

thanks for info, i will have a look at the Pflueger President. when i go into bass pro shop and ask a sales guy what is decent for 150$ price range they seem too push for either more money or pre made combos. I dont know a lot about fishing but from what research i did and what i read is that pre made combos are not as quality as spending 50-80$ on rod and reel separately. any information you can give it greatly appercaited

It depends on the combo. Sometimes You get what amounts to a free rod with a good reel. In other cases the combo might be two mediocre pieces.

Yes. They usually go for around $55-$60 so even if the rod's not great, it's cheap enough to be worth a try or keep as a back up

i am going to go and give it a shot, for around 100$ i cant go wrong if atleast the reel is decent
