Best Rod In The $50-60 Range

Featured Replies

I am needing new rods and can't spend a fortune what's a good rod for this price range? I have gone over the lightning rod shocks and shimano sellus what other options should I consider?

I don't really know about 50-60 but Berkley makes a good rod called the berkley cherrywood, I believe they come in 6'6 medium and 7'0 medium-heavy, they also make spinning rods but I'm taking a wild guess your wanting a casting rod because you didn't specify which you want.

These rods are 25$ but I have gotten them as low as 5-15$ on sale

Team Daiwa T at TW on sale for $59 right now. Best rod hands down in that price range. I own a ton of rods in that $150-300 range and 2 of these and they get used all the time.

id go with the daiwa t rod mentioned above as an all purpose rod but as your wanting a dedicated cranking rod id pick up a lightning rod shock. Its technically not a cranking rod but has a softer tip for braid and works darn good with mono for cranks. Ive got a skeet reese 6'6" mag crank rod that im pretty happy with too. It was 65 shipped when i bought it from TW around christmas and came with a 25 gift card. Its rated from 1/8 to 3/4 and can for sure handle 1/4 plus but i havent tried throwing smaller as i use a spinning rod for that. You can find them for around 60 if you look around online but the yellow is pretty ugly. great cheap cranking rod though. The lightning rid shock is at every walmart ive been too though so should be easier to find and handle in person. Bps cranking sticks go on sale pretty often for around 60 but not sure if they are right now

I would also go with the daiwa T on sale if you can swing it.

Otherwise watch the sales and try to pick up a vendetta in the $50-$60 mark. Watch ebay, you can get some good deals on rods there if you play the auctions.

I would definitely recommend a Berkley rod. Cherrywood is a good choice, but I actually prefer to step it up to the Lightning Rod. Last I checked, it was still under $40, and you really can't beat that for the price. They fight well outside of their weight class.

Another one that i've never used but heard good things about is the bps carbonlite series. Other than that, keep an eye out for sales.

I heard rumors that Abut Garcia is discontinuing the Veritas models, which was normally an $80ish rod. I think they can be had now for $59 if you keep an eye out. I have been very impressed with mine.

Cabelas has the Veritas's on sale for $69 right now. I think they are suppposed to be pretty good. Especially for $69.

You can get a Powell Diesel for 49.99 from thefishranger.

Walmarts have the veritas on clearance for $34 right now.
