What To Use W/ This Rod/reel?

Featured Replies

The more I learn about rod's & reels and good setups, I'm just curious as to how good this rod is overall.

I have a Quantum Light Pro QLPS60M, 6'0" Medium HL0 with a Quantum SS3 reel; what would be best to throw with this? I'm assuming weightless plastics?

I never even heard of it, I'm assuming this is sold as a combo at a department store. I'll give you some tips when getting a rod and reel, first, think about what kind of techniques and lures you are going to use the rod and reel for, then get the right rod and reel. For rods and reels stay away from the combos put together for department stores, these are meant as disposable outfits for casual anglers that sit on the bank and drown worms a handful of times a season, being that you are on bass resource I am assuming you are a little more serious than that and would want a little bit better. As for what to use it for I'd say weightless plastics, light T-rigs and some small spinnerbaits like a beetle spin and Mepps and Blue Fox in-line spinners.

Small topwaters, small spinnerbaits, small plastics and such.

You can throw in practical terms anything except for heavier than 3/4 oz with that rod.

I tried to research this set up to see what info I could find and came back up blank.  As stated above, it sounds like a department store set up.  With that said, depending on how you fish, I would not ask to much of this set up.  That does not mean it's not a good combo. But in general, most of these types of set ups are intended for the occasional user.

Based on what the rod is, I would say your best bet is Rooster Tails, Mepps spinner baits, weightless soft plastic, small jigs for crappie, and small live bait.
