So our lake was shocked and professionally accest .

 

About 2000 smaller >14" bass need to be removed to start. Bass are stunted at 12-13" and not enough food. Bluegill ratio to bass is 1:2. Should be more like 40:1

 

Has any other person or club done this? How did you store the caught bass to be removed? Airated tub? Holding pen in the lake?

 

Is there any business that would want the fish? Amimal food or fertilizer?

 

I dont think catching that many bass in the spring will be a problem.

 

We also need to keep records on what is removed.

 

Lake also has large adult gizzard shad that need to go. Gill netting?

 

And then the white perch that took over.....LOL.

 

Been a steady decline in bass size since shad were introduced (somehow) about 5 years ago.

Stock them in other ponds if you have access. Great way to meet a farm owner! Bass and bluegill eat insects including ticks off the cattle when they submerge themselves, and gives you a different place to fish as well.

If you are anywhere close to Central VA, I'll come catch ALL of your white perch

If it's private waters, why don't you seine it.  Gizzards are gonna be tough.  Look up some of Bob Lusks articles dealing with gizzards as well as culling and selective harvests.  Catching 2000 bass and distroying them sounds bad, and the thought of moving them does seem like a good idea, but if they are stunted and are older fish, that might be a bad idea.  The white perch or I believe crappie compete for the same food as the bass do so getting them out will help the bass as well.
