I Can't Believe I Did This

I was fishing some matted grass with a frog yesterday morning.  I bring the rod back to cast out, and feel weight as I am throwing out.  Now I have a backlash in my reel. I turn around and see line, and the frog wrapped around the trolling motor.  Lucky for me it was turned off.  Took about 10 min. to get everything untangled, but I think the frog is shot.

Ha! Seriously just did that with a frog a week ago. But grabbed a tree instead. Braid is the worst for picking out backlashes. Had to cut out half my line. Yeah, it was that bad!

I did the same thing a couple weeks ago.  Insted of digging out the back lash I just untangoed my line from the trolling motor ,threw the rod in the storage bend and got out another rod. :cut:

Yeah surprise tangles and backlashes can sure be upsetting sometimes. Especially when you are in a nice area.

So I go to cast while in the front of the boat and wham!  Coangler had left the back of the boat and was standing by the driver's console with his rod extended out of the boat at the 10 o'clock position.  I hit his rod with my bait and zoom, here comes some trouble.

Backlash of the Century!

Put rod and reel in the rod locker; came home and it took me about five minutes to cut and remove the line.

Hey,  it happens to all of us sooner or later.

^gotcha!

Just kidding Sam, that was my fault!

Go Cardinals!!!

My buddy got me three times a couple of weeks ago. We are fishing on the river so there is a lot of low over hangs you have to side cast under and for some reason he always raises the motor all the way up and there you go smack the top of the motor BACKLASH.
