Had a little problem last week with the wind at the ramp and got about 2" of my keel got scraped by the concrete ramp. I'll be out this morning appling some gel coat patch.

I've done "some" research on keel guard's and need some experance anglers/mech. opions on this product. i've read a lot of pros & cons on it but don't know anyone who has it installed.

There are several different brands and as far as I know all of them are good and have a lifetime warranty.  I have one on my boat and it has served me well as I launch by myself much of the time where I can't use a courtesy dock.  If you install your own, get someone to help hold it as you put it on.  You'll need to clean the area with acetone, hold the shield up to the boat and mark around its perimeter, take some scotch brite pads and rough up the area, reclean, then install the unit.  It isn't hard to do but the second person will make the job a lot easier.

Thanks Jig man, I see BPS has one, another has ads with Cabellas, ect. All show much the same far as instillation. As far as reviews go it seems all have some that think it's the greastest thing since sliced bread and others not so good. I think it's all in the application process & like you said, the extra set of eyes. All are proud of their products but worth the $$$. The one Cabella's offers has a spiecal offer of a nose guard (I think that's what they called it?) and with the exception of Keel shield, they'll all in the same price range. I'll be ordering today.

Hamby's and Keel Guard are the most popular around here.  Mine is a Keel Shield because that is what we carried at the dealership when I got my boat.

Jig man, went with keel guard from overtons.com. Reg. price was $165 + change on sale for $148 for the 8' with the nose guard free. Saved $25 against Cabellas or BPS.

I just installed a Keel shield on my boat. It comes with everything you need except rubbing alcohol and papertowels. and its best to have an extra pair of hands. You only get one shot at it. So you must get it centered.

T.O.F. = two old f#%@s I did mine by myself so it was an O.O.F project and it worked good yesterday when I had to pull up on a concreat ramp to pick up my partner after he park the truck.

I would recommend KeelSheild. I have a KeelGaurd on my boat and had some issues with it separating not from the boat, but from the plies within itself. Being a Dumbazz and not knowing what I had I called keelsheild and explained to them what was happening. They said they would send me everything to remove the old and install new one. They ask me to send them pics, so I did. They contacted me and informed me that I did not have aKeelsheild  but a Keelgaurd but offered me the same deal at a reduced price. I then contacted keelguard and sent them pics and they said they would send me a new one if I paid shipping and nothing about any of the things needed to replace. This is less than 2 years old. I ended up fixing myself but if I get another one it will be a Keell shield due to the great customer service.
