I had wanted to own a Zillion for a few years now, and with them being on sale plus the Labor Day sale over at TW, I couldn't resist. Now that I own one (the 7.1:1)  I see why everyone has always raved about them. So sturdy, so smooth. One of the most well built reels I've ever handled. Now, here's a question for those that have used them (I haven't been able to get mine out on the water yet): How do Zillion's stock drag system handle frog fishing? I LOVE how it launches frogs and jigs in the yard, but will it hold up to the hooksets of frog fishing?

I've never used a frog with my Zillions...yet, but don't see why not.  These reels are built like tanks.  Congratulations.  I was hoping to get at least one more Zillion before they are gone, but poop keeps happening. 

It will probably be fine, but since Carbontex washers are $8 I would upgrade.

They seem to do that. I got lucky that I had a moment when I could get away with spending the money that timed up with me actually having it. Good luck! They'll be around for a little bit longer I think. I'd love some more now that I have one!

The stock drag is more than enough for any type of freshwater bass fishing.

I have the same reel.  It can handle just about any type of bass fishing.  My only issue has been light weight baits.  Other than that, it has been a great reel.

Put out over $4000 in car repairs in a 3 week period in July.  Daughter found out tonight her car needs over $2000 in repairs.  If I don't help her, she won't have anything to drive, and has a year old baby.  Brakes, rotors, spark plugs and air filter I can do.  Rest a mechanic has to do.  So another couple months before any spare cash MIGHT be available.....depending on more poop happening.

There is a spool or two that can take care of that problem....so I've read.  I already have quite a few reels that will handle lighter stuff, so I personally am not going to worry about that right now.  May consider an upgrade sometime in the future just for the heck of it.   The Zillion will handle most anything you would want to throw on a MH rod and for sure anything on a Heavy.  Surely most of us have a rod the factory Zillion would be the cat's meow on without worrying about its lack of light lure ability.

I have mine parked on a G. Loomis 844C IMX.  I use it for spinner baits, lipless cranks, jerkbaits, heavy t-rigs, and heavy jigs.  The 844c can handle a lot of different applications.

Congratulations!  You got yourself a fantastic reel.  I love the 2 I have and will probably add another down the road.

It's larger for sure.

Besides the weight difference, the Zillion handle is longer.   Reel lengths appear to be the same.  Zillion is a little wider and also thicker....but not by much.  Both palm well for me.
