What's Your Favorite Sponsored Angler Gear And Tackle?

Featured Replies

I've got to say that I like and use a lot of KVD stuff. Not that it has his name on it, I could care less. Until recently I didn't know who he was. I'm just seeing what sponsored angler puts out gear and tackle that is proven effective and reliable.

I found that I use a lot more KVD tackle than I thought. I use the KVD Sexy Dawg and Splash, KVD Mustad Fastach Clips, and a lot of Strike King plastics. I also have a few KVD crankbaits and lipless cranks that I bought before I came onto bassresource and learned who KVD and a few other fisherman where.

So, what sponsored angler's equipment and tackle do you find yourself using?

Whether a piece of gear is "sponsored" or not  never figures into my decision to get it or not.   The questions I ask are:  Does it fits niche in my arsenal of gear?   Do I think it will catch me a fish?  Who sponsors and who pimps what doesn't ever enter into the decision making process.

That being said, I liked the paddle tail worms that Ike developed for Manns  several years ago.  I don't have many left.

I don't care who makes it, designs it, or sells it.

If it works for what I want it to do, for how and where i fish I'll buy it and use it, until something else comes along that does it better.

Case in point, I find I use more Rage plastics than all others.

And it's not because Steve is a nice guy with a good haircut... :eyebrows:

I love Cavitron buzzbaits (Jimmy Houston on the packaging).

I also love Lucky Craft Pointers (Skeet Reese on the packaging).

I also use the Spro Little Johns (John Crews on the packaging).

I don't use these products because of who endorses them, I use them because they work.

I don't follow the pros to know who coincides with what product I buy

Idk who is sponsored by rage tail but I buy their products a lot, I buy KVD cranks too but not because they slapped KVD's face on the box.

I used to care, when I was 12.  If Bill Dance used it, I went and bought it.  Then around the age of 14 I realized that Bill could have a bare metal jighead tied on and fish would still bite for him so now I just fish what works for me.  I could care less who endorses it or designed it, though I do have a good bit of the KVD crankbaits and the Perfect Plastics, but it's hard to get anything Strike King without KVD plastered all over it.  I have been using baits from other, smaller lure companies lately, like Warbaits, Revenge, Backwater Tackle and Phenix.  I have also been getting into Japanese baits as well.  Keitech Tungsten Jigs are quickly becoming a favorite for me.

I have an abundance of roboworms, so I guess Aaron Martens...

But I have never bought any kind of tackle because of who is endorsing it,

I base all my decisions off of results.

I use BPS Caronlite rod's and Crankin stick (Edwin Evers). He is my favorite pro angler beside Chris Lane but I don't buy the product because of him but because of the price point and I love the rod's. I use RageTail bait's which are used by alot of pro anglers that are not sponsered by them but I use those because they catch fish no other reason. Never really had the though process of this guy uses this I'm going to buy it for that reason. If it works I use it if it doesnt work for me I dont.

Most of the baits I use have been overwehlmingly endorsed by the members here.  When it comes to gear, a joe's opinion trumps a pro's sales pitch every day.  That's not to say the pro's aren't shilling decent equipment...Most of the gear and tackle out there works fine, but it's the perspective from tons of everyday anglers with no agenda other than to share their success and failures, that I value the most.

I am a brand *****!  While I do experiment with other brands from time to time I tend to stick to a single brand for consistency sake where applicable ...  For example

VMC for hooks

Strike King for crankbaits, Sexy Dawg

Megastrike - Spinnerbaits and BuzzBaits

I like Tommy Biffle and John Crews I do use there baits but not because they are sponsored, endorsed or even own the company.

Couldn't agree more and this is one of the biggest reasons I frequent the forums here.

that's me too

I seem to buy a lot of KVD branded products only because he seems to have his picture pasted all over the place.
