Mh Power Question

Featured Replies

Im going on a small trip next month and am in the market for a new MH setup to use as a sort of workhorse(spinnerbaits, t-rigs, c-rigs, smaller jigs). First off my two contenders right now are duckett and abu (because TW doesnt have the 7' *** blacks till the end of the year), i would like to know from any owners what you think of the MH power rating on the Ghost, Micro magic, and Veritas 2. Next, if i get a ghost or a veritas ill be pairing it with a Lew's tourny MG but if i get a micro magic ill be pairing it with a Lews LFS so should i splurge on the rod or reel? Lastly if anyone has any other good combo suggestions within the price point (roughly) of those mentioned above Im all ears, but i would like to know why you suggest what you suggest. My apologies for the drawn out and run on inquiry and appriceate all replies.

Do you have any idea what the rods you are spending money on weigh and balance with the reels you plan to use? What does MH fast action mean to you?

There isn't ANY standards to rate rods against. Light weight rods should be under 3.8 oz for a 7' bait casting rod with handle length of 15".

Im aware there are no standards thats why i want to know what people who own one of these rods think about there power rating( wimpy or stiff) and to answer your question ill just have to tell you what you told me, there are no standards, i have two MHF rods that are very much different, i have M rods stiffer than one and the other is a pool cue so what MHF means to me changes everytime i get a new one. I would like it to be well enough suited to handle the applications i have stated above. Do you have any insight on the rods above or any other moderatly priced rods($100-150)? Thank you.

Take a look at Lamiglas EXL734C

I have a few Duckett rods. I have the Mh spinning rod with a dawia steez ex 3012 reel mounted and it is the best spinning set up I have ever used. If you check on ebay you can find a Duckett MH micro magic for $99 with free shipping. .

Like the above poster said, look on ebay.. Search "duckett micro"

At $99.00 the Duckett Micro Magic is unbeatable.

I have a 7'mh veritas. It is stiff. Like, I use it for jigs in 20' of water stiff. Its light and sensitive and I love it. But it is what I would consider a Heavy medium heavy. Lol.

My 7' medium/fast veritas is quickly becoming my favorite rod for moving lures. ....but I digress.

The mh veritas would be more than adequate for the things you listed. But possibly a bit stiff for some peoples liking.

Thank you, this is exactly the sort of info I was "fishing" for.

I recently purchased a 7 MH duckett micro magic and put my Lews tournament MG and I love it, cant stand putting it down.  This rig is very light, cast very far and probably the most notable feature is its smoothness during lure retrieve, the alconite guides paired with lews smoothness is simply hard to beat.  Try it... You will love it!!!
