How Are Y'all Rigging 3.5" Dry Creek Tubes?

Featured Replies

On the recommendation of multiple members here, I bought some Dry Creek Tubes. I also purchased some Yamamoto internal tube weights and some 3/0 skip gap hooks. Well, it turns out the internal tube weights are a little too wide and the 3/0's are too long, not to mention that the skip gaps don't play well with the Yamamoto weights.

So before I go out and continue my experiment, does anyone have some good advice?

I use an insert tube head for most tubes that small. Another option is a 2/0 Mustad Big Mouth Tube Hook and push a bell sinker up inside the tube. Run the hook through the top of the hook and through the eye of the sinker and just T rig it like normal. Gives the tube a really unique action and catches a TON of smallmouth at times.

The internal weights are a tight fit, but the smaller ones work. Go 1/0 owner offset shank worm hook. Skip gaps I only use for weightless flukes.

I like a 1/4oz tube jig head or a 1/0 gamakatsu worm hook with a bell sinker pushed to the top of the tube.

I usually t-rig them with an 1/8 oz. weight and 2/0 hook.  Sometimes I use them on a split shot rig if the weeds aren't too thick.

I t-rig these with a Trokar tube hook, and a small unpegged bullet weight.
