Placing First Order With Siebert Jigs This Evening. Any Must Have Jigs Or Colors?

Featured Replies

After hearing all the positive reviews about the quality of this site and company, I have decided to load up for Fall and Winter with some nice custom Jigs, Punch Rigs, and terminal tackle etc.  My wish list that I have written down is MUCH larger than I planned and need to narrow it down a bit, as I want every color/size, style of course(The bait Monkey starts to get bad when seasons change).

Any suggestions of a jig or color pattern that has worked well for you would be helpful as I want to try some new color and styles of jigs and flipping and punching set ups. I gravitate towards all black and blue jigs, watermelon, and green pumpkin but I want to expand my color ranges and also more than just the standard Flipping style jig or Casting Jig for fishing the Stained, shallow, weedy and oftten muddy bottoms here in florida....

'

I am just getting into the heavy punching with skirts instead of just pegging the weight ot the plastic, or using a 1 oz, jig with trailer....

Thanks in advance. I know alot of guys/gals on this site use these jigs often.

Get a couple of 1/4 oz swim jigs (bluegill pattern) and 3/8 oz Big O (PB&J)

Down there, ( Florida ) I prefer a light jig, unless, you are just focused on a true flip/ pitch bite ..so much silt.. Rigs will sink in pretty quick... I never really used a jig in freshwater when I was there, but jigs are better shaped, better hooks and better made for that work.. However, the silt hasn't changed.. I am not saying you can't find spots with harder bottom, but for me, I rig other ways than the typical flip jig, rather than a shallow crankbait like around lily pads, opt For a swim jig in those areas too.., The punch rig, is a great way to fish those hydrilla infested areas. I fish hair jigs around here in Spring, Fall & Winter but honestly, I would not even consider it in Florida freshwater.. ( Salt, Yes ) good luck! I suspect you will be putting some great fish in the boat or dragging them to the bank.

I asked Mike what color and size was best for my area and he helped me out.

Thanks for the input and advice.

I have my cart loaded up and I may just ask Mike to add in what he thinks is best for my fishing style....I agree that the lighter swim jigs are great for the muddy bottoms we have and you are right about finding hard bottoms. I still have a box fool of football jigs from my years growing up in NY and I have used them only a few times as I only know of a few spots with hard bottom and rock but they are in phosphate pits and deep water, so I like to dropshot or fish a spoon in deep water, I think I should just sell my roughly 100 football jigs on Ebay.

Thanks.

ask mike, he will help you a ton!  i really like those mata series dredge brush jigs.  whatever you do, just get the wire ties, a little extra but worth it.  get a couple of swim jigs as well, they're great.  lastly, i would try to get a finesse jig or two if that's your thing.  i think watermelon meat or something like that was one for me and the PBJ smoke color is money too...

seriously though email mike, he's quick to respond and super helpful.

I'll let one cat out of the bag.

Smoked Jelly with a brown head.

Black/blue is my go to jig from Siebert.
