War Eagle Jigs And Zoom Trick Worm For Shakey

Featured Replies

I want to try and use a shakey head jig.  I bought some war eagle shakey  head jigs and Zoom Trick Worms.  Looking online when I got home, it appears that the jigs I bought look like regular jigs.

What makes these jigs "shakey"?

Also I thought that saltless worms float but it appears that trick worms do not.

Are they not suitable for the jigs I about to be used as a shakey head jig?

A shaky head is a jig that you use with a worm so any type of jig could be a shaky jig. What makes a jig like the ones you bought "shaky", well they have a long shank hook, most shaky heads range in weight from 1/8oz to 3/8oz and they usually sport a 3/0 to 5/0 hook, this allows you to rig the worm on the jig weedless, basically like a Texas rig only with a jig head. Some have a barb to hold the worm on, others use a screw lock or some other devise that allows you to rig the worm weedless.  As far as the worm needing to float, in my opinion it is over hyped, my best shaky worm is one that is loaded with salt so it doesn't float and I have had days with over 100 on those worms, so no, it doesn't need to float. The trick worms you got will work just fine with what you have.

I can return these products and get something else if you guys think my selection is not that great.

Yours is more than ok.

Road Warrior is a strong advocate of Megastrike and they have quality products.

I, however, put the Trick Worm up against any bait as far as consistently producing fish.

That should be fine. I'll throw out though, that the only shakey head jigs I use are the MegaStrike shakey 2 jigs.

I use a variety of shaky heads, but only a few baits.

The zoom trick worm is my go to.

Shake with confidence my friend.

What you have picked out is a good shaky head jig.   Salt actually makes the bait sink but it sinks slowly.  A Trick Worm is great on a shaky head.  You should be good to go.

As far as salt or salt less , I find 0 difference in fish catching ability ( trick worm ) in my experience ..
