Wow!! Another Great Evening

Featured Replies

Well first of all, i started out using a white jig and that is what i used to the end. here is an example of how most of the evening went.View My Video

Then i caught this one which had a huge belly. Around 12in but weighed over a pound!2vsf9ti.jpg

Toward the end i caught a smaller one that sure put on a fight. I thought i had a monster.

Now i have a question. This is a pond that i fish and all evening there seemed to be bluegill coming to the surface and making boils as if a bass was scaring them. There are no shad in this pond and i am really curious what it was. (It seemed to work well though, to imitate a shad:)

Here are some pics of the pond i fish.6ozoef.jpgih4n10.jpg21alt9w.jpgru7gab.jpg

I really noticed that the bass were staying close to the edge all the time.

Sure looks like those bass aren't going hungry!  Nice belly shot!

That pond fishing sure looks like a lot of fun!  I'd love to experience that one day.

Those swirls could have very well been bluegills. We had a very large hatch of flying ants at the lake Sunday, every kind of fish in the lake seemed to be taking full advantage of the mass of insects floating on the surface, including the smallmouth we were fishing for.

Small ponds often have very little cover or structure so the fish seem to relate to the shoreline where most of the food is and where most of the cover tends to be.

If you noticed on one of the pictures, there is a spring that comes out and infront of that there is a extra deep section. Bass often position themselves at about five feet and you can usually get them. Depending what day it is, the bass will hog the deep and that is where a black and blue 3/8 hack attack works with a rage craw trailer.

Any kind of fresh water coming into a pond is usually money! :)

In my pond we have some bluegill but I've noticed when I see a school of fish boiling the surface, they're talipia schools.
