I'm going to call shimano for a repair but how do I describe this?

The cover to the guide broke off?

Whatever came off is causing the inside of the guide to be sharp. Afraid it will weaken my line

Insert fell out?

It shouldn't really matter. The only right way to fix a guide is to replace it anyway.

Told Shimano that the insert fell off and they told me just to go to a local repair shop.

That's probably a $10 job +/-
