Tva Drawing Pickwick Down To Winter Pool Early

Featured Replies

Heads up to anyone planning to coming to Pickwick over the next month as they will be bringing it down to winter pool by mid October. I've heard it could even be a little lower. This could cause some trouble at a few ramps. TVA has already warned removing artifacts or disturbing historical sites is against the law.

Hope to get down there next week. My guys say the fishing is tough right now.

How are you doing? Any suggestions?

I haven't had my boat in the water since early August. Word is though things are pretty tough right now. I think there is a tourney in town this weekend. I've seen several boats around and about at hotels and such. I'd guess it would be out of McFarland. I was gonna try it last week but decided to go to the gun range instead. Just going across the bridges I've seen boats up near the dam and beating the banks.

The water is way down. Anyone out be careful. I've heard it could stay down 1-3 years depending on who you talk to. Hopefully not nearly that long.

I fished around the dam two weekends ago and boy were they pulling some water!!! I was using live bait just hoping to catch anything that would bite.  Caught a 16 pound blue, 5 pound flat head, 4 skip jack, 2 drum, and 2 crappie......really wanna learn to catch the small mouth there just getting comfortable with the waters in my 1652 jon with 30 hp evinrude

Two boats were beached on Big Bear yesterday. Word is they are still there. First boat got stuck, they went back with another to try and get the first one and ended up getting it stuck too. The Cherokee Rescue squad ended up having to get them out. As far as the boats, I'm not sure how long it will take to retrieve them.
