I believe his point was to simply call the company having the promotion and ask about the current status of the discount instead of asking random non-affiliated strangers on the Internet. It probably takes less time to call and ask than to post a question with an answer only the shop owner would know.

I guess calling the company and asking is just an old school thing now, lol.
