I have recently acquired a Shimano Clarus CSC-70PML bait casting rod. 8-15lb line, 1/8-5/8 lure. Fast taper. What's the best use for this rod.

Check again, I suspect it is Medium Power. If that is the case, the rod is best suited for single hook lures;

soft plastics, jigs, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits.

checked and it's PML. what the P is for, I don't know.

 

As you say, good for jigs and plastics. Wouldn't try it around heavy cover.
