Heard this topic a bunch, but never heard this question.

 

 

Do pros every take out the jon boat and hit small honey holes?

 

A bass is a bass as most say so you'd think going to smaller ponds with big fish would still be practicing, but with more of a toned down style of fishing that would bring more of a fun/relaxing day being on the water..

 

 

Im gonna go ahead and guess no..Just wanted to hear other opinions.

Brent Chapman was once quoted as saying that he fishes his private lake (pond) "when he wants to go catching instead of fishing".

Of course they do...

During a tournament a few years ago.  One of the big timers went out in a 17 foot aluminum bass boat because he wanted to fish Oxbows in one of the river systems.  I forget who or where but it did happen in a big tournament.

Rick Clunn used to fish out of an aluminum boat pretty often. Many other Elite anglers have fished from aluminum rigs in tournaments, often times with jet drives.

 

I'm sure a lot of them go wading, canoeing and even fishing from belly boats on their personal time. Shoot, some even fly cast for stream trout.

Ott Defoe swapped out his big boat for an alinum boat to fish one of the opens a couple of years ago. Couldn't get to where he needed to be in the big one.

He fishes it out of a beat up old white and green Lowe aluminum with torn up seats and carpet and maybe a 25ph motor. He told my buddy that bought my Lowe Roughneck that when he wants to sell it he'd buy it so he can fish the local lakes without being bothered all the time. I'm sure that gets annoying when you're out just trying to have fun fishing and guys keep coming up to you and asking questions and everything. I know without the fans there is no sport, but they still deserve their time away.
