  1. Although didn't involve me catching with a rod and reel still found this to be entertaining. My buddy and i were fishing at are local hole in a canoe. I borrowed my father's rod and reel and sometime into the trip i decided to jury rig a spot for my father's combo. Needless to say it didn't work.. Heard a splash, looked behind and theres the combo sinking with a spook attached.. Spent about a hour trying to find it.. Failed. Several months later im out again with my same friend and we see somthing bobbing in the water close to the spot where the rod drowned. It's the black spook! After lots of tangled line and ripping threw weeds the combo was found completely coverd in weeds and slime... wasen't in good shape lol. Spook was fine just needed some new trebles. Many people fished the lake and was standing out like a sore thumb. Very strange how i stumbled arcoss it after months and months.
  2. Pack on enough cloths untill your almost sweating.. You'll be happy you did when that windchill kicks in on the lake.
  3. Heard this topic a bunch, but never heard this question. Do pros every take out the jon boat and hit small honey holes? A bass is a bass as most say so you'd think going to smaller ponds with big fish would still be practicing, but with more of a toned down style of fishing that would bring more of a fun/relaxing day being on the water.. Im gonna go ahead and guess no..Just wanted to hear other opinions. Thanks BR
  4. I'd go with jigs, jerkbaits, chatterbaits, swimbaits, soft plastics. Here in new england i dont throw top-waters in the fall unless theres surface activity. Some may argue otherwise. Pretty much try fishing with slow baits at different depths. If that dont work try gettting some reaction strikes with the metioned above plus whatever else is in your arsenal. Also try fishing shallow ponds... In the fall it can be great way to get em. Do alot better than BOWs with depths past 20-25ft
  5. Agree with you there.. Only reason i believe it one of the ponds i fish still produces 7-8lbs..... I met a guy with my father who showed me a 9lbsumthing bass mount caught in a pond in wareham MA. Guy had a bunch of bassfishing gear and two bass boats so pretty d**n sure it wasen't no fake. Especially considering the pond he said he caught the bass in......Got a guy on my local fourms who caught a 9lb in mass in the south shore. Pic and weightd officially.... Got my pb at 8.5 in MA Cant speak for the rest of new england, but MASS got some true monsters.. Just comes down to finding the BOWs they live in.
  6. Theres a few ponds on the south shore an cape that had 9s and 10s pulled out. One place in particular supposedly had a decect population of 7-10lb back in the 80s...
  7. Slow sink.. Cranking as slow as i could without snaging. Did one directional change and BAM smoked the BBZ
  8. Agree.. to make things worse on my side i actually do own a scale lol.. Biggest bass i weighed was alittle over 8lb She was caught off a bed blind casting under brush with a jig I doubt the fish was a DD, but i know it was atleast 7-8lb.. I've caught my fair share of 5-6lbs bass to be dang certain.. At the end of the day im just happy hooking into quality fish in my neck of the woods..
  9. Yea definitely agree on that. Just about all the bass this fishery has none of them got bucketmouths... Small heads to big bodys.. Its indeed a VERY healthy place though. With goods numbers of 3-6lbs and a soild amount of 7lb+
  10. Heres a few that i've been catching on the savage gear And this one was on a smaller swimbait 4" Swimbaits have really been catching quality and quantity for me this year! Lots of small and big fish have been engulfing big baits!
  11. HAHAH OOPS!!! Dummy me didn't even realize what bait i caught her on! Been catching lots of swimbait fish an i lost track. Did indeed catch her on a BBZ 6"... But been catching alot of quality fish in the 3-6lb range with my savage gear line thru... Sorry bout that one
  12. Thanks guys im pretty sure the fish is around 7-8lbs too, but i hear a few guys saying it's close to a DD. An the bait was a savage gear line thru swimbait. Highly recommend it!
  13. Was lucky enough to hook into this big gal throwing a 8" line thru soft trout bait. Only problem is i didn't weigh her. Curious to see what others think it weighs? Thanks bassresource
  14. Hit a south shore pond an caught two nice fish plus a few 2-3lbs. Was pumped to say the least!
  15. I like spinnerbaits for covering open water and bladed jigs for fishing around cover/structure. They say throw bladed jigs in dirty water but, i feel as they work in any water clarity. Honestly i'd rather use bladed jigs over spinnerbaits nowadays. They are alot more verstile IMO. You can fish the whole water column and can fish them excatly like a jig with a extra action. Can fish em fast or dead slow. So many different retrieves once you fish it for a decent time an get the hang of em. Also like how you can throw a craw trailer and hop it off the bottom or fish it like a spinnerbait with a swimbait trailer. Thats just keeping it simple too... Many combinations out there.
  16. I like most of the SK colors for the KVD cant go wrong with the shad colors and bluegill/perch. Even the craw colors get em. I was throwing the sexy ghost minnow. Guess it really comes downs to water clarity.
  17. Fished a south shore smaller pond an caught around 13 bass and a bunch of pickerel between yesterday and today. Just about all of them caught on a kvd 2.5 and a few on a chatterbait. Landed two largies over 3lb and some monster picks. The bites starting up
  18. Nothing too crazy but, theres this small pond near my house that is probably only 3-4 acres big and has produced multiple 4-5s and a 6-12lb lunker. I've caught and released the 6lb three times and hooked a fourth! Shes one mean fish and not shy as I've seen her multiple times chasing lures. Phooey to those who say C@R don't work. As for the pond it's a giant muck hole that gets atleast 20ft+. It's literally a hole with no structure and just lilypads on the edges around the whole thing.
  19. Not so much my first fish cause my dad took me fishing VERY early, then for years i gave it up and never fished. About 4-5 years ago i picked it up again and landed my first real lunker the first 3 or so months at it again and never looked back. Still remember the feeling
  20. Woulden't call it the best but, MASS has some great fishing. Find the right places and they can contend with alot of other places. Especially living in the south shore cape area. So many ponds to fish!
  21. Depends sometimes.. Regardless of what i listen to it's awesome when your listenin to one of your favorite songs and and you hook up right at a good part. lol it's movie worthy when it happens
