What Got You Guys Into Bass Fishing?
My dad and two brothers have fished since i could remember. I was too much of a little grinny impatient kid to keep up with it. 2 1/2 years ago i wanted to give it a go again. Went to walmart an picked up a cheap combo and some lures including a mirco chatterbait. Went to a local pond that evening and had a white chatter tied on. Casted it out a few times and wacked a soild fish around 3lbs. Started investing time and money into it and a couple weeks later i went shore fishing and caught my first lunker. Largemouth had to be around 6lbs and had a bucketmouth like you coulden't believe. Once i held that fish i knew right there and then i was wired to fish! Now i am overly attached to fishing for trophy sized bass in lakes that hold them. It's almost the only thing going threw my head. Catching 3-4lbs bass isen't enough for me anymore. I just want the bigguns! It's crazy thinking back a couple years ago i could care less... It's amazing the changes throughout your life!

Pitching/flipping Rod
I used to use a 7ft for heavy cover and would have trouble getting big ones outta the deep stuff Like others say go with the 7'6 or longer.

Fishing Shallow Lakes For Big Bass
Thanks everyone for the responses so far. I do fish from aboat so i have acess to the entire body of water. I've thrown every big bait lure i got confidence in and hit the 8lb mark. I know theres bigger lurking since my friends dad caught a 9-11lb and a 13lb was in the local newspaper from a random angler a couple years ago. The only two things i really haven't tried is sticking with a big swimbait or fishing at night.... Maybe one of two is the right ticket. I swear though i think the bigger bass over 6lb just cruise in areas with little to no cover/structure. I spot BIG fish cruising around, but they spot me a half a mile away and by the time i even get a good look they just take off. So then i started fan casting from a ways away on other days and won't even get a sniff???? The lake has enough pressure to when theres atleast a couple people who can fish the weekdays and then you'll get atleast your 2-5 weekend warriors on sat/sun. Again thanks everyone for the responses TIGHT LINES BASS RESOURCE

Fishing Shallow Lakes For Big Bass
That's the problem i've hit all those marked areas and can't seem to find anything bigger than 6lbs and i know theres bigger for a fact. The lake is only 5-6ft deep and is around 80 acres. Food source contains bluegill, pumpkinseed, perch, alewifes, blueback herring, golden shinners and possible a couple more. No idea about crawfish etc. Thanks!

Fishing Shallow Lakes For Big Bass
Hey everyone of bassresource i was curious of your opinions on attacking this lake in Blackstone,MA. I've already pulled out some nice fish, but just not the big one im looking for. It's mostly muckish/sand with some hard bottom an sand/gravel in the shallowest parts. Water is a lightly stainted green color(only in summer, winter time the water is gin clear) you can see the bottom at evey point of the lake. Submergent weeds are just about eveywhere, but are thick overall all around in the summer. Except where the weeds get the heaviest in the general area marked by the green circle. Theres no offshore cover except for maybe 2-5 peices and really no depth changes for the most part then what you see. Other than what's marked on the picture theres just overhanging trees at certain parts all around. If anymore details are needed please ask away. Anywho how would you approach this lake for trophy bass? Any advice to lures, conditions, etc would be much appreciated. THANKS BASS RESOURCE![

Moving Down To Florida
Thanks everyone! Im really exitcted to check out some local waters. I will primarily be fishing freshwater as im not to big of a saltwater guy. I really enjoy fishing for largemouth in heavy cover and i know flordia's got plenty of that. Once im settled down i really would love the opportunity to meet some of you if instrested. Meeting some people who love fishing would really be a good start an getting the chance to make some new friendships.

Moving Down To Florida
So there's a possibabitly i might have to move and florida might be the place. It's not up to me it's up to my dad. Im really going to be upset leaving behind some family, friends, memories, and can't forget my unpressured honey holes. All i've every know is Massachusetts. Im not entirely sure where the location will be. It will be south flordia. Maybe somewhere around Fort Myers. I know im moving down to one of the best fishing states, but my question is is there alot of places to fish that don't get pounded? Like smaller bodys of water under 100 acres? Where i live im used to fishing a different pond everyday. Some less than a 3 acres others around 80 etc... From what i've seen theres tons of places that hold bass, but alot of them are no tresspassing or private neighborhood ponds with little no uniqueness. Just round ponds with docks and vegatation. Again im only going on what i've seen or heard. Any help is really appreciated as fishing will be the only thing keeping me sane once i move lol. P.S Theres a possibility i could move on a pond as my father likes to fish as well. I got no clue, but are option are pretty open. I'd hate to move to a pond filled with lots of unhealthy dinks. Again thanks eveyone on bass resource and tight lines

Stupidest Thing You've Done While Fishing?
I've got plenty and only been seriously been fishing for less than 5 years. Who knows what awaits me for the upcoming years lol. I've droped two fishing rods in the water. One on accident and the other being dumb. The accident was when i was in a canoe and had my BPS carbonlite jury rigged in the back upright. Worked fine for awhile un untill out of nowhere i heard splash. I was going to freak until i saw the carbonlite floating. Thankfully it was a really light combo. Would of never seen it again. Was in water deeper than 20ft Other time i was starting to lose focus after a long day of not to many fish. Casted out and got a backlash with braid that dead-stopped the line and threw the rod a couple feet in front of me. The rod didn't float. Took around a hour to fish out from the bottom. Luckly i was somewhat shallow. Proabably 5-6 feet. One of my favorites has to be when a buddy and i took a trip almost a hour away. Forgot the battery and never went fishing. Was a really nice day to be out on the water too. After that day i never ever left anything behind.

Best Spring Bass Lures
Try the River2Sea Super Yabbie. Great lure for beds or just fliping and pitching docks, wood, etc...

"chatterbait" Type Baits
I have tried other brands, but i keep going back to z-man! Only problem with z-man is somtimes you get a crap one with either a dull hook or the blade will detach from the jig head. The new chatterbait elites are definitely a nice improvement.

"chatterbait" Type Baits
Bladed swim jigs are my all time favorite bait to throw. I will throw it all year long and just about anytime of the day for i have built a tremendous amount of confidence into this bait. Best times to throw one are lowlight and overcast days or just anytime the bass are aggressive, but i have caught quality bass on bluebird skys with zero wind. The bait is very versatile although i feel some people just chuck it out and retreive it with varying speeds which will work depending on certain conditions. It is my least favorite retrieve though. You can work it just like a jig or work it like a spinnerbait. It just all depends on how the bass want it. Sometimes the bass want it burned right below the surface. Other times they love it just barly creeping it along the bottom. One of my favorite ways of fishing bladed swim jigs is mimic a crawfish. That technique has caught me my 4 out of 5 of my biggest bass. You can throw this bait into lots of different cover and whatever you cant throw into just fish right next of. Just gota experiment and you will know what and whatnot to throw into. Just watch out with large quantities of stumps. They will bounce off them, but not 100%. As for water clairty stained water will be the best. Personally i dont pay much attention to water color for i fish a lot of clear water and still slam big gals. Keep it simple with colors, chartreuse or sexy shad for mimicking baitfish and any dark confidence colors that you like for mimicking crawfish. Hooksets depend on how your fishing the bait, if your fishing like a jig set it like one etc... BTW fishing bladed swim jigs in shallow water(less than 2-3) For some reason just is absolute money! They work great at all depths, but shallow water always produces vicious hard stikes!

Pitching And Flipping From A Canoe
I did alot of fishing from a canoe when i started seriously bass fishing an all i can say from my experiences is it was pretty awkward in a canoe. Sitting down probably just makes it alot tougher.
