N E 1 Use Lunker City Jigs/jig Trailers?

Featured Replies

So im done open water fishing for the year, and now im already thinking about next year. I have been browsing the lunker city website looking at all the slug-gos i will need for next year because i want to focus on stripers in the river when they come. However I need some bass jigs because my jig game is lacking. I consider my one weakness in bass fishing the bass jig. I know to be a more well rounded bass fisherman I have to be good with a jig. So many tournaments are won and so many big fish are pulled with the bass jig.

So anyone have experience or success with lunker city jigs? they have a football head jig and smaller swim jigs. They also have a chunk designed for the jig. Another question, when you cast or flip a jig do you have tension in the line while the jig falls? I feel like i missed bites because i was letting a jig fall on a slack line and then picking it up?

Spend some time reading through the pinned jig thread at the top of this section.

Lunker city makes great products. Never tried their jigs though. Not sure where you are in Mass but you could go to Meriden and ask. They're really awesome people down there- AND you can get a steamed cheeseburger while you're down there!

First off like RW said.....read the pinned section at top of the tackle forum, there is a wealth of knowledge there. Second off, in my opinion those jigs are nice but not for that price tag. Contact Mike over at Siebert outdoors (click his icon on the r/h side of the page) and give him a heads up as to where you fish and he will get ya straight as to what you need(and his prices are spot on). I did this exact thing and the next time I fished with a jig(his dredge series) I boated 4 bass in no time at all.....

I was a devoted fan of Lunker City baits, I got on the Slug-O in late 80s and still use it today. That said, when I started making my own jigs, I was using their Piggy Back trailer which is a chunk type, this was for spring cold fronts and late fall, I used them on 1/2oz Arky style jigs. I got away from them after they were discontinued but when I went back to their site I noticed they had an old secret put up for all to see. The Trailer Bait they make looks like a regular twin tail spinnerbait trailer but it is, the tails are flat and we would bite 25% of the body off an thread them on hair jigs, it was and is a killer presentation at times and I have a lot of them for that reason.
