So Many Lews So Many Options, Looking For Good Shaky Head Reel

Featured Replies

Needing a good Lew's shaky head reel at 7:1:1 ratio, i love my lews. the new tourney lite has my interest i hear good reviews too. I see $30 rebate just not sure i want to pull the trigger on a $180 reel.

Any other Lew's models to gauge my interest that others are using for shaky head let me know, Thanks!

Check out the Tournament Pros, you can find them for $150.

X2 on the tourney pro. I love mine and got it online for $50. I mostly use it for weightless senkos and that reel will sling them things.

The one with a Shimano badge on the side.

Sorry.  Couldn't help myself.  :laugh5:

My Lews experience is limited to the Tournament Pro.  I like it the little I've used it.  A grandson started using it shortly after I got it, and considers it his now.  :sad78:

I'd be looking at a spinning reel for shaky heads.

I've tried them there just not for me.

I use a Tournament Pro 7.1.1. Awesome reel especially for 199.00   I have also had my eyes on a light.  I just haven't pulled the trigger yet either.

My favorite shaky is the Extreme with the Owner Deep Throat hook.

Shaky is one of my favorites and i use it a lot. I think i will benefit from a lighter reel, leaning Tournament Lite Speed Spool

I'd go Lite or Pro, you can find both around the $150 mark.

Even if you find that you don't like it they're great for many other techniques

I bought a new Tournament Pro this summer and LOVE it.  I'm anxious to try a Lite with the SpeedCast braking.

Tight lines,

A baitcast reel is only good for : "Power Shakyhead" fishing 1/4oz. and greater weight jigheads on 12lb. FC using 6 inch Senkos on Falcon lake bass .

The ideal shakyhead set up is a spinning 2500 series reel , mono backing and either 8lb. FC or 10 ~ 15lb braid + 8lb.FC leader and 1/8th oz. jigheads . Learn how to use this spinning setup and search you tube for Jeff Kriet or A-Mart shakyhead tactics and learn this application correctly ... To use just strictly a baitcast outfit for shakyhead fishing is akin to using the above mentioned shakyhead spinning reel for punching into thick vegetation - there simply is a better way here .

I'm sure he can throw them with the right equipment.
