Quick Google search or on here even, will bring up plenty to read.

It casts fine but holds too much line for me.

Check reviews on Tackle Warehouse. Might even have some on Wired To Fish and Tackle Tour. I have the Pro and love it.

Does hold a lot of line but that's why you should use backing.

Not sure how experienced you are with baitcasters. The BB1 in the 5.1:1 ratio is a great cranking reel for the money. It's a little less user-friendly than some other reels as far as the brake system, so if you are using it for a wide variety of lures, and would normally make a lot of adjustments based on their weight, it might not be the best option in that regard. And yes, it has way more line capacity than you'll need: but pretty much all bass casting reels do.

I have a bb1 pro and as far as I can bomb 1/2 oz lures with it, I'm glad it has the extra line capacity. Its by far the most versatile reel in my arsenal of lew's reels.

What are your thoughts on the Lew's Speed Spool BB1 baitcaster reel?

It will be utilized on an all-around fishing basis.

So, ya buy one? The BB1 is an awesome reel! I have a 7:1 I use for mono topwaters and jerkbaits, and a 5.1:1 for deeper cranking. If you are gonna be throwing a lot of different lures on it, I'd suggest upgrading to a BB1, as it has an external dial for on the fly brake adjustments.
