which Mattlures??

Featured Replies

ive been looking at these and decided im going to give one a try yet i dont know which one to get.

i fish in PA and a good bass here is 3-5 lbs my biggest being 7.5, the lakes all have perch and blue gills that i fish and i see a lot of people are killing them on the blue gill.

so out of all his swimbaits which would you suggest for the slightly smaller northern bass? thanks!

Get his Perch from the East Coast Series and the Ultimate Bluegill. Are there any Crappies if so then buy the Ultimate Crappie. The Sunfish color would be a good one as well. The old saying is match the hatch you know what forage is in the water so go from there.

I 'd say go with the baby bass, it 's longer profile will allow you to target more fish than the bluegill ( easier to mouth ).

I would use the opposite line of thinking as Raul. Your not looking for more fish, you are looking for that one good one. I would say the bluegill or the 6" bait.

I'm in a similar situation to you, as in there are no Cali giants in the waters I fish, but I am wanting to try swimbaits.  I think I am going to start with a Mattlures baby bass, because it is 1) slightly smaller profile and 2) it's cheaper.  When/if I start catching fish on the baby bass I will then probably consider buying the blugill.  Also, I have heard some rumors of there maybe being a Mattlures bait in the works that will be even better for some of us fishing in the midwest.  Possibly something resembling a shad, but so far that's just an unconfirmed rumor.

I 've been seriuously thinking 'bout gettin 'me that perch, not because we have perch down here, man that bait looks just like a baby mirror carp; baby bass, bluegills, tilapias, minnows, shiners and BABY CARP is what our big mexican bass eat. Once they 've reached certain size they forget about the small stuff and go for baby & juvenile carp.

I think shad would be a great addition. I would buy some. I was thinking about finding some threadfin looking swimbaits for a lake here. It a highly pressured, power plant lake that has no shad die off due to weather. I have actually caught a threadfin in a cast net that was as big as my hand. And i have seen monster gizzard shad here.

Hint, hint matt.....

high quality Big gizzard and threadfin shad swimbaits will sell in mid-west and especially the south.

i can confirm the rumor on the shad being int he works.  i emailed matt to ask about a custom paint job resembling a shad and he said  that it was already int eh works.  didnt say when to expect it though

I am definately wanting the perch as well, never seen a bass up here in pa/ny with anything in its mouth but perch

Work on the street is that the Huddleston shad will be ready pretty soon.  Sounds exactly like what you are looking for.

If/when those hit the market I would be interested to see how sales of those compare to the bluegill.  I think a Mattshad line would definetly challenge for his top seller.

i fish the same northern bass ..... id recomened the baby bass ( largee or smally ) ,,,, i use these as my main swimbait and have had great days //
