Turtles Everywhere

Featured Replies

There have been small turtles everywhere at a pond I've been fishing lately.  None have bitten my lure yet but they sure do make me nervous for that reason...not sure of the species but they are not snapping turtles.

when they start annoying me going after baits ill net them up and put them in the canoe after cleaning them of any leaches, then toos em back when im ready to move. when i bring out my buddies kid we use shinners so i net a lot of turtles hahaha

Most turtles aren't going to bother your baits, don't worry about them if you haven't caught one yet.

Usually no problem with turtles, just don't go skinny dipping in that pond!!!

Our farm ponds are loaded with them. From baseball size to bigger than basketball size. By little bros like to catfish and the play hell on them. Usually grab 3-4 buddies, and thin them down with 22's.

Once a year does the trick for our ponds ;)

I've always wondered how much a largemouth actually eats turtles. I know they do, but I just don't know how often. Anyone have any ideas? BTW to the OP I didn't mean to hijack your thread.
