Reelistic Priced Reels?

Featured Replies

Topic isn't spot on but it'll do. So while messing around on Tackle Warehouse I noticed the Lew's reels 30 dollar discount/rebate thing on their Tournament SS and the Tournament MG. Which one? Any other good reels around ~100-~120? Which is where the title comes in... Yea, I did it! Second post!

For a spinning reel I'd say Shimano Symetre or Daiwa Lexa in the ball park. Not for nothing the Quantum Accurist is a rock solid reel much cheaper. It's nothing to run home about but gets the job done. I have a Lews spinning reel.. It's built just like a Penn Battle but the reel foot is too big for the reel seat in the rod I was gonna use.

Whoops my mistake, totally forgot to specify what kind of reel, but spinning would add variety from the baitcasters. Hmm lets say just baitcasters for now. Also wheres the lews peeps at? Generally I see them first but it depends on where.

Out of the lews reels id get the tournament because it has an aluminum frame and will last longer. Other reels in that range are the tatula and lews lfs(both around 100 online.) Personally id get the tatula even though i love lews reels(i have 6 and am looking to buy more). Or look used and you can get great deals. Almost all my reels were bought used off here and other forums and i paid around half of retail for all of them. If you really want the lews the tackle trap has the tournament ss on sale for 119.99 so after the rebate its 89.99

Tournament MG is my favorite bottom line reel, best for the buck! I know some people will point out that Lews and Abu are made in the same factory, but I seriously like Lews over Abu. I can't compare out side Lews and Abu, but Lews get's my vote!

the new gen daiwa exceler or lexa can be had cheap both great workhorse reels or even the tatula ( if you like the way they palm) all these can be found sub $100

The Lews line up have great reels. I have 2. The Tournament MG and the tournament pro. For another $30 you can purchase a TT PRO. They can be had for $150.

In that case lol A Citica G series or Tatula off ebay for around $80.

You can find a Lew's Tournament Pro for around $150.  I know it's $30 over your posted budget, but it's one sweet reel!   I haven't tried any of the other Lew's models (yet).  In the ~$100 price range, I recently bought a Daiwa Tatula.  I can't imagine getting more bang for the buck and can't imagine anyone being disappointed with one.

Tight lines,

Bob
