Man I've gotta hunker down for winter it's getting cold, today's high was 66 in Cali today! Oh man, no more fishing! Oh wait... hehehe

I second the wacky rigged senkos. Probably one of the most suble techniques.To cast to a sight fish, drop out a bit, usually a few feet depending on how far you are casting, of line and let the lure hang. Then pull out some line from the reel, this also depends on how far you are going. Slowly start moving your rod until the lure begins to swing like a pendulum and once it gains enough force let go of the line you are holding and give the rod tip a flick. With enough practice you can toss it about 25 feet and have it slip into the water without a sound. As a plus there is no fast movement which will spook creek bass and it is very satisfying to do. On a final note, try going with a multiple piece ultralight, a bobber, small hook, small weight and a few nightcrawlers, it's probably my favorite thing in the world watching a bobber move or a rod tip bouncing. Man this post brought back memories. Cheers!

I definitely agree with the layers but then again, when does it get that cold in CA? I guess when I'm fishing Kent on Mt. Tamalpais it can get cold and wet, in that case I wear a warm long sleeve shirt, a rain-ish protecting jacket, and bring a sweatshirt in case I need to put it under the rain coat ish thing or if I switch the rain ish coat out. Also the gloves with thumb holes is probably a really good idea, if you cant find any you probably could cut a hole and fold the tip up.

I'm looking at getting a few jointed swimbaits, but they are very expensive and I have already lost one. So my solution is to think about changing the hooks. Now this isn't a small topic, it covers all the hardbaits so I believe it just may spark an interesting conversation. Back to the hooks I've thought about changing to doubles or singles to not tear the fish's mouth as much and make it less of a snag hazard. So the question is... Have any of you guys used them, has it increased or decreased your hookup ratio, and what baits does it work for and what baits does it throw off balance?

Oh man though, for some reason these jigs set off the bait monkey like no other. Inside my head: I want them so bad! Don't you have enough? But they're so pretty and anyways, who can have to many jigs? Outside my head: Nooooo!!! I'll probably give in sometime though The bait monkey is too strong!

So I am looking to buy a rod around the 100-120 ish price range. I hear good things about the Denali Rosewoods, Veritas 2.0 and the Clarus. Any other good ones? And which do you think is "Best" Also no Black *** as I own one and would like to see what others have to offer,

Ever since I got my first speed spool have always wanted to get a higher end lew's to see what they are like. I will most likely be throwing jigs with it and kinda want a centrifugal brake. My choices are >LFS Speed spool-Aluminum frame, 7 ounces, magnetic brake $99 >Tournament MB-Aluminum frame, 6.7 ounces, both brakes $140 >Tournament SS-Aluminum frame, 7.9 ounces both brakes $150 (120 with rebate) >Tournament MB-Aluminum frame, 7.9 ounces, Magnetic $130 (100 with rebate) Kinda don't want to stray too far from this price point.

All are awesome suggestions, but it is really tailored to where you are fishing. Sometimes you want to stay out of the weeds, so scoot the hook higher. Weights also are tailored to where you fish and bait. BUT these are good starting points... For bait its opinion (And where you fish) but roboworm straight tail worms work almost everywhere. Good luck, drop shotting is awesome.

How bout a frog on the really thick stuff? It's pretty easy and you don't have to reel constantly.

Biggest I've had on was a massive bat ray that straightened my hook on 50lb braid. Biggest I've seen but not caught? I cannot remember and kinda don't wanna remember. lol

Whoops my mistake, totally forgot to specify what kind of reel, but spinning would add variety from the baitcasters. Hmm lets say just baitcasters for now. Also wheres the lews peeps at? Generally I see them first but it depends on where.

Topic isn't spot on but it'll do. So while messing around on Tackle Warehouse I noticed the Lew's reels 30 dollar discount/rebate thing on their Tournament SS and the Tournament MG. Which one? Any other good reels around ~100-~120? Which is where the title comes in... Yea, I did it! Second post!
