Tried Braid And Liked

Featured Replies

I went out and made a few casts this afternoon with braided line for the first time.  The increased sensitivity is definitely there but I really liked how it casts...seems to go farther and be more accurate (but that could be my imagination).  The "no memory" aspect give it a nice feel too...more controllable I guess, hard to describe if you haven't used it.

I used 30# spiderwire ultracast invisibraid with no leader on a baitcaster.

Congrats! You'll really enjoy it, I think. And when you

dig out a birds nest, the line doesn't kink as it does

with mono/fluoro which can weaken the line.

I can only recall one birds nest so bad with braid that

I had to cut it out. I've had nasty ones since, but each

and every one I've been able to resolve.

Do tell.

Do tell.

Very smooth, non coated so it stays very consistent, extremely strong and diameter is considerably smaller than spiderwire. It has just about no memory and handles sexy, especially once you soak it with that KVD unicorn tears juice stuff. I use it down to 10# and love it.

It's been discussed that kvd l&l has no affect on braided line. Some say it helps to hold its color longer but as for line manageability no.

OP - power pro is a nice low cost braid. Get the super slick 8 if you want a little less guide noise. I don't mind that part.

Once you switch to a good quality braid, you will never go back.

Yeah power pro original and super slick are both good! Super slick is a lot easier to pull wind knots apart with but it loses its color faster it seems like (doesn't bother me). Personally I like original power pro when it comes to the thicker test like 50lb just because its a little stiffer and I like it better in thick cover.

I change my line at the beginning of each year, yet some of my go to rods start to show line wear in the middle of the season. I have not had any issues with the line weakening, as I use Power Pro 10 lb test and have reeled in plenty of lunkers with the line in this worn condition. However, after begin curious as to line conditioner, not only did it revive the color, as mentioned above, but it improved casting distance greatly. I will never not use this product again. Well worth the couple of bucks.

Actually I wasn't prepared for the 37 degree weather and only stayed about 30 min. before my hands went numb...it was 78 yesterday.  So, no.

A line pick is a nice tool to have or just flatten the barb on a hook.

yeah i don't think it does anything for braid.  but your unicorn tears bit has me laughing so hard in my office that my employees obviously know i'm surfing the web.... thanks for that.....

Power Pro Slick 8 user here.  20 lb works great for me.  LOVE it.  First time I cast it, I couldn't believe it.  It DOES lose it's color quick but who cares?
