Sickle hook jigs

I bought some sickle hooks for jigs and worms.  Yesterday I tried them out and had a bad day holding fish.  I only got 5 of maybe 40 hits stuck and to the boat.

Any of you have this kind of experience with them.  If so is there a cure besides deep six. :;)

    Were they the VMC ones? I have heard they had quality issues with them. The best sickle hook made for jigs is a Owner deep throat cutting point. The only problem I have had with it is I usually end up bleeding removing one from the jig box.
