Lakes That Have Silted In

Featured Replies

Many of you talk about fishing creek channels and roadbeds in your lakes. I live in a lake that is mostly silted in except a few places people dredged recently. Most major road beds can no longer be found with depthfinder due to fact that the lake has silted in.

What would you suggest when starting on a lake like this.

Lake Conroe, TX.

Used to be a big bass lake and had hydrilla. Now bulkheads and no grass at all.

I am really wanting someone to help me out with this lake and would gladly mail them a topo map to help me out.

Cat if you read this I would love your advice and anyone else who fishes structure instead of shoreline.

Is it silted in to the point where it is just a few feet deep ?

An article states its average depth is 20 foot.

I recommend too  just put in a lot of depth finder work , looking for irregularities , cover , and fish. Might as well troll a crankbait while your at it.  Watch for seagulls. They put me on fish a lot. Even if the gulls are sitting on bank they will be close to the places where game fish hit baitfish . Lots of people dont like searching for deep water fish but I enjoy it .
