Tiller Outboard Engine Care

Featured Replies

Hello guys, I have a 15 horsepower Yamaha, I think it's from the 90s. Run great, haven't had a problem yet thank god(just a broken pull rope). Just wondering if anybody could give me some tips on how to make sure it stays that way and maybe a first aid kit to fix common problems. I do a lot of fishing in very remote parts of the everglades in Florida and it wouldn't be the first time I've had to spend a night out there due to mechanical failures. Thanks again

Like all outboards it needs to have the lower unit fluid changed at least yearly and a new impellor at least every 3 years along with spark plugs every now and then.

Run some Seafoam through it every few tanks, flush the cooling system with fresh water after you use it and also do what jig man recommended.
