I love Flukes. The White Ice color seems to work best for me. They catch tons and tons of bass. I also rig them weightless but the hook, well I'm still trying to figure that out. I've really had trouble hooking up with EWG style.

Try the G-Lock hooks.  Have the same problem with the EWG, but the Gammy G-Lock's seem to #1 keep the fluke from sliding down and #2 increase the hook up due to the way the hook is designed and can be skin hooked.

An unweighted pink fluke on spinning gear is deadly on the Potomac.

 

Pink flukes work in other bodies of water, too.

 

An EWG hook should work fine.

 

Are you burying the hook tip into the back of the fluke?

 

So if you guys have not tried flukes please consider giving 'em a shot.

I drop shot flukes, ( super ) as well as just the Fluke.. Maybe give the owner 4/0 or 5/0 with cps a try.. That's what I use, when throwing them weightless..

Try a skip gap hook.

Holds much better than any other style.

Tried a number of different hooks over the years, back to using only 2.  Standard 4/0 offset hooks for weedless presentation, mounted on a jig head for open water.  As long as the hook is sharp enough the brand isn't a concern, few swipes with a file works wonders.  The only hookup problem I may encounter is short strike either from a smaller fish or fish not overly aggressive.  Given the option I will always use a lure with exposed hooks, fluke on a jig head falls into that.

They will catch tons of fish. I like a 3/0 or 4/0 gammy EWG hook. I fish mine weightless on a baitcaster with 10 or 12lb line. If you want to use spinning gear, nose hook it with a 1/0 or 2/0 drop shot hook. Also, you need to make sure the hook is poking out of the back of the bait, not the belly.

Weighted Twist lock Owner hooks 1/16 work fantastic with Flukes. 

 

I debate with myself if slightly weight 1/16 - 1/8th or if weightless rigged Flukes work best.

 

Flukes are one of my favorite baits also. I use an ewg and a dab of super glue at the nose to hold the fluke in place. The hooks with keepers like kvd grip pins work great and so does the corkscrew keepers like on swimsuit hooks. I prefer the unweighted owner ones with the centering pin. You can also try nose hooking them like a drop shot if you are fishing open water. They seem to have more action IMO when nose hooked

In certain lakes around here the bass will tear up a bubblegum colored fluke in the spring.  I like a 3/0 size EWG.  The hook doesn't add that much weight and the fluke still sinks slow.
