Has anybody tried it? If the spikes were mounted in a ^ type roughly 2' apart would it work? Not sure of the bracket needed for that but I'm sure somebody has tried it before

How do you suppse that would survive the boat turning due to wind or current?

That sounds like a very good idea, but it would probably put a lot more moment on the extending arm then it was designed for. Power pole probably hasn't made a system like this because then people would only have to buy one!

No offense to the people that use them, but to me, they are the antichrist. Like zebco. They're good for certain people, just not me.

Sounds plausible, but I'd be more inclined to do that

with a 12-ft Minn Kota Talon (vertical piledriver vs cricket leg).

Of course, dual Talons would nail her down.

Not a bad idea but it would have to be dug in really well to keep the boat from turning in a strong wind. The boat has a lot more leverage trying to turn against two spikes a foot apart compared to two spikes 4-5 feet apart (dual power poles).

It would work on most bottoms.    If you designed the tines to be broad like knife blades it could probably be even less than 2 feet apart.   The weak point would actually be where the boat connects to the shaft.  but you could over come that easy enough by bending the top of the shaft into an L shape that connected to the boat on 2 points.  Might need to make the shaft telescope some to allow for up and down ...

 

The actual force on a boat is not that strong.. even in a strong wind... only a few lbs...
