Megabass Pop X

Featured Replies

I bought one. Compared to a Rebel Pop-R, not worth the money. I've caught more bass with the Rebel.

Gary Yamamoto as a good one as well. Caught a few nice keepers on it as well.

yea ive been wanting to try some of these japanese lures and what not but wanted to hear from some guys who hav used em before i shell out 15-20 bucks on a popper

Look up KeepinItReelFishing's vid on it. I personally can't justify a lure that expensive but if I'd had some more money I'd come up with some justifications real quick :)

Here's a link for all you lazy people! I watched the video lastnight and I think I'm going to pick one up in the summer. Definitely seems worth it too me. I love the action compared to a Pop-R. Also no need to watch all 30mins but he goes really indepth into it and shows all aspects of the lure.

I got one a few months ago...cuz i am weak and i wanted one lol

Cant wait to play with it

I prefer the Pop Max. I use it as a walking bait and not so much as a popper. Great bait and you usually dont lose a topwater.

I just can't justify the price of their baits. Say you buy 10 lures. that's $200 roughly. I'd spend that money on crack before I do that. I will admit that my last Rapala purchase came in at that price. 13 lures, 14 if you count the 6 footer for the man cave.

That won't even get your fingerprints on the Roman Made case my man haha... It's all relative. If you can swing it, you can bring it. To each his own!

I love Megabass. It's like art I get to catch fish with.

It's like their $1000 rod. THAT'S ART! I just don't see it for me. I've held one and it doesn't feel like $1000. It feels like my St. Croixs. Granted, the handle was not shaped for my hand...

Pop-x is smaller and lighter and doesnt have the open slits in the gill region. As noted above I prefer the weight, size, and action of the popmax.

Check out the yellow magic popper. Available thru tw. Very good alternative popper. It's has caught some big fish.

Oh, agreed... That kind of stuff is pretty but I don't see it either. For $20 though, I'll go for a little taste of the good life here and there haha

The pop x has gill slits, but not as pronounced as the pop max.

Hasn't that saying gotten many men in trouble?

Once again the Pop Max/x are very versatile unlike other poppers. Find them for $10-12 on Ebay.

Yeah, don't pay retail. I believe it's also price-efficient to order direct from Japan if you're buying a number of them at once.

Yeah but it also got me a tackle box full of sexy JDM baits so it can't be all that bad ;)

I do have an older Lucky Craft Kerrol popper that I just traded from someone. So I'll be trying that out this spring. Any of you use it as an alternative to the Pop X?

  • 2 years later...

The Megabass poppers are definitely worth it. You don't have to pay retail. You can pick them up for $13-15 on sale. You can get them at Dick's Sporting Goods right now. I have never caught much on a Pop-R, but fish crush these things (the smaller Pop X and the Pop Max).
