Citica 200E Noise

Featured Replies

I have two Citica 200E's.  Both work perfectly.  One however,  has a clicking noise when the handle is turned.  While OFF the rod,  if you hold the reel with the level wind pointed UP,  clicking noise.  When you hold the reel with the levelwind facing DOWN,  no clicking nlise.  Logic dictates that it must have something to do with the levelwind but what?  Or is my logic wrong?

I  bought them from a friend that was upgrading and couldn't pass them up.  I will be selling them on the fleamarket but,  I'd like to know what is making the clicking noise and if it is an easy fix.

My guess is the anti reverse pawl. You can remove it completely without issues, or squeeze the ears together so it fits tighter on the gear.

^^ This ^^

Yup, its most likely the anti-reverse pawl.

Easy fix.

And really, there is already an anti-reverse bearing in the reel preventing backplay in the gears.  In fact, I have removed these in the past in some of my e curados.  They seem to work just fine.

The clicking is from the redundant AR. Adjustment and greasing will correct it. If that's become dry the whole reel can likely benefit from a deep cleaning. Removal is an option but it's a nice added feature when maintained.
