Lews Tournament Pro

Featured Replies

So I'm looking for a new baitcaster and I've decided on a less tournament pro, but the more i look at the less expensive less models  like the LFS that is $100 cheaper, I'm wondering if the price difference is really worth it. The specs on them are very close and besides the material they're made of I can't really see why there is such a price gap, can someone enlighten me on the difference or if its even worth spending the extra hundred.

The tp has carbon fiber handles, duralumin spool an I thinking gearing also. The tournament mb is the version that is similar to the tp minus the duralumin .

I have both the Pro and the regular Tournament. I notice no negative difference in performance, handling, casting, retrieve, or weight.

I have a used 7.1 TP I'd sell for $110 if that helps.

you can get tournament pro's for about $150 new if you look around online. In my opinion, for $150, tournament pro's are the best out there for that price. I love my tournament pro

Tournament pro is a great reel, and the Tournament Speed is not much less for quite a discount. If you want to spend less, you aren't really missing out all that much. If you are gonna put the TP on a set up you use a lot, then that;s the reel for you.

If you're like me there is a big difference, the weight! I have a friend that had a TP, he liked it so much he got his son a regular speed spool for his B-Day. Well he asks me to go fishing with him to set the reel up for his son and after a day he says he is taking the TP back and buying 2 more speed spools for himself. He told me the performance was the same and he didn't mind that the speed spool was heavier, he said it was better with his rod. For me, the weight can't be overlooked now, I started with the Abu Garcia Revo Premier 2nd generation, and then it was a Smoke and finally a TP. Now that I've been using all sub 7oz reels, I can tell when a reel is over 7, when the hit 8 they feel like a brick.

The standard Speed Spool is not the standard being referred to versus the Tournament Pro. There are 2 versions: Tournament Speed Spool and the Tournament Pro Speed Spool.

The Lew's Speed Spool is yet a third model much lower down the list in features and performance when compared to both Tournament models.

The TP is an awesome little reel. Got mine for around 150 on flea bay. Just another suggestion, you could get a Curado I for around $140. I am thinking about getting one myself.
