  1. I don't think that you can go wrong with any of these choices. I'm putting mine on a phenix recon 683 & moving my alderbaran bfs to the 682 or a volkey.
  2. Phenix maxim 7'3 med/light 1/8 to 1/2 might work for you.
  3. I have the 683 recon. I like it pretty well. Thinking of getting the 682 for small cranks.
  4. Love my team gold. I'm very much interested in the team lite.
  5. The spool design is made to handle light braid. It was made for the Australian brimm market.
  6. The major craft rod is rated 1/3 to 2 oz. It's a 7'6 mf. I was looking into the rod myself. But that's all I know as they just came out. I guess it's a little longer than you would like.
  7. I know how the jdm bait monkey works. I got a alderbaran bfs & next thing you know I want a scorpion 1000xt. And I got to put it on a major craft volkey. The bfs is so much fun, I'm putting it on a phenix 683 recon. With the avail shallow spools they are so versatile.
  8. Agree. I have the 734. Ilke it a lot but for A rigs I would probably get the 765.
  9. PAGreg Today, 04:27 PM Personally, I like having both centrifugal and magnetic brakes for pitching/flipping. Just a bit more control of the lure entering the water and backlashes. The super duty has only magnetic brakes. Super duty also seems a bit overkill for that application. Thus, I'm using a tournament mb in 8.3:1 ratio and used the money saved to get a bb1 pro for deep cranking. I thought the same
  10. The tp has carbon fiber handles, duralumin spool an I thinking gearing also. The tournament mb is the version that is similar to the tp minus the duralumin .
  11. I got one in January , love mine. Hadn't had a chance to fish with it yet. Right now I have it on a old powell diesal with 8lb pline cx premium and have been tossing 1/8 dropshot weights with it. I'm impressed with the distance I'm getting. Still looking for the right rod for it. It impressed me enough to think about getting a scorpion 1000xt.
  12. Might be the reel. I don't have a distance problem with my mg
  13. Sorry about the fluger post. There not spin cast any way.
  14. Pfluger president combo. Pluger trion combo's even cheaper
  15. Out of curiosity what are the various reasons?
  16. I love my mg. I can't wait to try some of the others.
  17. I'm about a hot and half away from there. I'm in the process of buying a lil Jon boat. When I do boomer we'll get a little bit off the bank. Pbizzle I'm come to Chattanooga every week. Thinking about moving there
  18. Has anyone tried the 7'6 halo daylite flipping stick?
  19. Hello everybody from South East Tennessee. Great forum with tons of information.
  20. The tournament mg has brass gears &14 lb drag. It's a lot of mis information on the mg . The major difference is the tournament has dual brakes an the mg holds more line. How I know? I have one was about to get the tournament when the guy at my tackle store advised against it. Told me for the money the mg can't be beat. I am new to baitcasters an I have no problem slinging a lure into orbit while I'm practicing. The magnetic breaks work great as I have nothing more than a few over runs. In fact the guy at my tackle store doesn't even stock the tournament any more. The reason why, people who purchased them and returned them for mg's. Mg doesn't have a rulon drag either. It has the same drag as the tournament up. I done a ton of research every where to try to get a good baitcaster to learn on and I did. Lews Tournament Mg. It's the same as the superduty minus heavier gears 1 ball bearing and a carbon fiber handle. Awesome reel as is all lews reels are.
