I'm excited about this Maxcuatro braid that Power Pro is releasing here soon. I wondered, does anyone have the lb test / mono equivalent ratings?

 

If it's thinner than its competitors at the same breaking strength, this will be nice since my normal 50lb will be smaller and hopefully cast better.

 

I am anxiously waiting for it to come out.

 

Want to try it while deep cranking a few of the new Over-sized baits that just came out.

Just checked it out on Power Pro's website.   Looks like it's only for 50 lb and up line.   I guess that's where it would be most valuable.

With a reported 25% reduction in diameter -   meaning for example, the 50lb could be closer to what we consider 30lb - 

 

If that's the case and the line is still able to retain close to it's rated strength,  at that size it could be very beneficial  when flipping heavy vegetation as it could cut through it even easier.

 

Also I'm hoping it could be an option for deep cranking the new bigger baits.

Count me in as another excited angler, can't wait to fish with this line.

I keep seeing different release times. Some say March, others say "spring" others say May.

 

I hope sooner than later. 

Is dig going to be an issue though? Only had one problem with 30 pound digging.

I'm going to try it on one rod and go from there ... The only rods I use that sz of braid are frogs but if it's good strength and truly a 30lb diameter ill use it on swim jigs as well and when I go to Florida

Well I've had this on my Curado/Zodias rig now for about 2 weeks, and I'm impressed. Not to say that it's necessarily that much better than other braids, but its very smooth and casts very well. 

 

A couple of "first couple weeks' observations"

 

- I thought with a 4-carrier braid you'd get a lot of noise when you're reeling, but since you're essentially downsizing your line it's not noisy at all. It's as quiet as my 8-carrier other braids

 

- I had some issues at first with line dig, which is probably inherent of almost any thinner braid on a casting reel. The good thing is that once I re-wound the line much tighter I've not had any more issues over the span of several 3lb+ fish and pulling out of snags

 

- The line seems to play well with a flouro leader. Not that I've had any issues with my other preference, Sufix 832, but the idea is you don't want to worry about it, and I don't. I've even freed from some pretty bad snags and the Alberto knot has held up perfectly.

 

- Since the 50lb line is closer in actual diameter to about 35lb braid, the line is more limp, which is nice since it sits well on the spool, ties knots well, and generally handles better

 

- Sensitivity is what you'd expect from braid, I'm not seeing any discernible difference here from others

 

 

I happened to find an east coast dealer who had 50lb spools on eBay, other outlets like TW seem to say in April for availability.

 

Give it a try, I'm pretty impressed so far

After using this for a couple more months, here are some additional details I've found....

 

1. Almost every braid manufacturer touts their braid not losing it's color as bad, and I have yet to find one that lives up to that accolade, including Maxcuatro. It's a great braid, no doubt, but it experiences the same fading other brands do. I use the moss green and don't notice it on my equipment/clothes/accessories

 

2. Knot strength seems to be very good, not foolproof, but the one time I purposely snagged a lure and broke the line, it took an immense amount of pull to break the line and it didn't happen at the knot

 

I'll keep providing more details as I use it....but so far, as I've said....I'm very impressed

The fibers in superline cannot be colored, just coated. That is why they fade.

White is the natural color.
