Video Recording My Fishing

Featured Replies

Im going to be fishing a tournament in the next month and I want to record every minute I can.  I want to start making my own fishing videos not for youtube this is for my own entertainment unless I get really good at it.  I don't really know were to start, go pros cost so much!!  Are there other cameras out there that are just as good? I have been on amazon looked at different ones and it scares me the price difference.  How do you guys go out and record your fishing?

Thanks

The Camera Monkey just brought me a Garmin Virb.

It was less the other day but that price is still very good for a basic quality unit.

Does it have ways to mount onto my boat?

Does it have ways to mount onto my boat?

The are a variety of mounting options.

Each installation is different - you'll have to look at what's available and "customize" a set up that best suits your particular situation.

But that's the fun part.

I recently bought a Garmin Virb Elite. I've used the Go Pros and the Elite has been so much easier to figure out and start using. I really like that there's a screen on top so I can easily look and see what I'm filming on the water and if I'm even filming. I used mine for the first time on the water this past week and it worked really well, but of course I only have 1 battery and it died right before I really started catching them, but it still got 3 hours off good footage of me casting and occasionally even catching a fish. Kanasbassfisher08 has both and after fishing with him a month ago and getting to see the video and how much easier it was to setup and use the Virb, that sealed the deal for me. The camera pointing towards the back of the boat in this video was the Virb, the Go Pro was on me in the front of the boat.

OK, two votes for the Garmin Virb(which I haven't even heard of 'til I started this search, another I have to look into.). Any others out there...GoPro,Sony Action Cam(model?), Ion...? Opinions please, was looking for a good waterproof video camera w/lots of options, ease of use, battery life, value/price as it pertains to fishing, since this seems to be the new trend. Thx
