I am looking to get an original generation Veritas or Verdict for the cheap. But the problem with these rods, is that on Abu Garcia's own review site, nearly half of the reviews said that the rods broke extremely easily. Has anybody else had Abu Garcia V-series rods breaking?

I have a 6'6" M-F 1st generation Vendetta that I got with a gift card, it was to be used as an all purpose rod for the jon boat because I can only take 2 rods and I needed something that would leave me in tears should it get stepped on or lost overboard. I still have it and I still use it, that rod I considered a steal because it wasn't what I'd call sensitive but it was great with anything moving like spinnerbaits and it is an excellent casting rod, and it is very strong without weight a ton. It is going to be my grandson's spinnerbait stick this year.

Nope.  I own three Veritas; a 7'3" MH, a 7' MH, and a 6'9" ML spinning.  Never had an issue with any of them.  They are the best $100 rod I've used.  All of mine are atleast 3 years old at this point.

The very first run of Veritas rods broke easily, and yes mine broke also. I have since owned four more that have all been put through abuse over the last 4 years with no issues. It was just a quality control issue when the rods first hit the market. Same with the verdict although I'm not sure if they where corrected or not.

Bought one last year and I broke one last year.  I just picked up one of the cabela's tournament zx rods  as a replacement this spring that i am looking forward to trying out.

I have had 2 Veritas and 3 Vendettas. Had 1 Vendetta break while casting a weightless worm.  I got it when they had them for like $30 at Walmart so I am going to sum it up as a Walmart break.  People there dont take care of stuff, so that is why I would blame the break on that.  Anyway. The other vendettas have not broken and the 2 Veritas have not broken.  Have not had any issues with the Veritas and they were work horses with jigs and plastics. One has been the workhorse for 2 years, the other I got last year and it held up just as well.  No issues, love the veritas rods  A LOT!

I use them, and I have broken a few. 99% of the time it was my fault, as most all rods broken are user error. People are just too ignorant to accept that fact. The ones that were my fault I cut the guides off for future use and tossed the blank in the trash, the ones that were not my fault (at least in my mind) Abu took care of me beyond my expectations. At $80-$100 for the Vendetta and Veritas, they sell a boat load of them. For every broken one with some one acting like a whiney brat in a review, there are 100 that are working fine that you'll never hear about.
