Just picked up my new rod/reel setup thanks to all of the helpful info from everyone here. I got a 6'6" St. Croix Avid spinning rod and a Pflueger Supreme spin reel (for an awesome price, I might add). Again, I just wanted to thank everyone who commented and helped me narrow down my choices.

Now can't wait for all this ice to get off my lakes to go try it out!

Nice set up.  It should work great for just about anything.

 

As far as snow goes, we got 6-8 inches between yesterday and today.  Spring, if you're listening, please hurry. 

Nice job with the Pluefger Reel. I have it to, and the MGX is great!!!

If we all stand outside with hair dryers running will it melt the ice!?!?

Don't do it, I don't think the county or state prison systems have fishing clubs!

But at this rate I may have to take up ice fishing. I've got another baby on the way and March/early April were my fishing windows this year.
