Trolling Jerkbaits

Featured Replies

Have any of y'all found that trolling suspending jerkbaits for black bass is effective, particularly out of the kayak? What are your favorite trolling lures for black bass? So far, I have had success trolling from one spot to another using a mid diving rapala crankbait, but I'm looking to expand my trolling repertoire.

YES.

Try a Lucky Craft Pointer 100.

That's all I'm allowed to say at this time.

Trolling? I'd rather use a floating bait, but drifting, yeah any favorite suspended will do. Cast, reel down to depth, and drop the rod in a holder while you fish some other bait.

This past weekend the Lindners had a half hour show on just trolling with jerkbaits. You might want to check out their web site for video.

We troll with old rapalla jerk baits for trout with down riggers in the summer when they're sitting at the 20ft mark

Awesome. I was thinking the constant movement when trolling would mane it hard to effectively present a suspending jerk. So francho, you would prefer to troll a floating jerkbait?

Yep.id prefer any bait I'd troll to float. That way on the pause they rise.

My little brother and I trolled jerkbaits for seatrout last summer, two rods out and when you hooked one fish, your other bait would suspend (or float depending om the bait) in the school resulting in several double hookups. I would assume this could apply to bass too

I liked casting and trolling flatraps. I thought it was a crankbait for quite a while. Very versatile.
