Reel Magic And Ardent Reel Butter

Featured Replies

I have a can of spray silicone that I have been reluctant to use as a line conditioner.  So I went to the Academy yesterday and check both Ardent and Reel Magic and they both smell horribly strong of petroleum products.  So I guess my question is, does KVD's L&L have this same property?  If it does then I don't seen what the point is in paying all that extra cash for a product I already have in house.  Thanks guys..  Best information ever from you guys.

Your observation that Reel Magic, WD-40 etc. are all silicone prays. The petroleum distil lent actually partially breaks down the line making it softer. KVD L&L is completely different. It's a polymer I believe and coats the line. It works and is much gentler on the environment.

Ardent line butter is just that, butter. Horrible product that gets everywhere on both you, your reel and anything else

Would you say I have a fishing problem if I put Reel Butter on toast?

Only if it didn't improve the way the toast slid down your throat, or out your pie hole. :laugh5:

I use a line conditioner called TangleFree for decades, no issues. Tried KVD, requires application 8-24 hours before use, TangleFree is a liquid you squirt on the reel spooled line as needed during the outing.

Reel Magic can cause your reel lubricants to gel, WD-40 is a water displacement solvent not intended as a line conditioner.
