Quantum Accurist Pt

Featured Replies

I have a chance to get a Quantum Accurist PT for $40....  I am not certain what model but I do know it is slightly older 2000ish era.  Do you guys think this is a good deal?  And is the reel a decent reel?  It won't be my primary just a new back up for me.  Thanks in advance guys

I have two of the Accurists that are probably 7-8 years old. Solid workhorse of a reel but heavy compared to today's reel market. If the weight doesn't bother you it will make a good "fish it hard and put it away wet" reels.

Like most quantums they are probably heavier and overall more bulky than other reels out there but I have had zero issues with the two that I have. I have the second most recent model. The ones that are sort of a gunmetal gray color. Also check ebay I just saw a few of the same models I have on there for 60ish brand new.

I have three accurists of varying ages and would gladly buy more. Never had a single issue with any of them. Good reels.

I'm using an Accurist PT-A, the white and black one, and it has been an awesome reel for me.

Don't the old ones only have centrifugual braking? I heard the new white and blacks have DBS?

Are you talking about the spinning or casting reel?

Mine has a spool and mag brake.

My brother has the new white and black one.  And yes they are Dual Braked.  This one I am looking at is from about 2005 or so....  I saw one on Ebay that looked exactly like it and it had sold for $25.  The person has it listed for $60 where I am looking.  Little to high for what I've seen it sell for.

The Accurist is in the line of $100 casting reels that are pretty good, the Lews Speed Spool is in that category as well but for all the grief that that Quantum gets, the Accurist is one reel that was a solid work horse reel.

I have two -  I like them and believe they are a fairly solid & decent reel.

They don't get a ton of use and are serviced when they need it.

They've held up well and I'd expect that to continue.

If it's new or in new condition - I think you'll be satisfied.

I had one great tee wish I wouldn't have gotten rid of it.
