Another rod build

Featured Replies

Here is another result of my addiction.

I made this for my Dad for Father's day. It's a Lamiglas XMG50 6'-0" Medium fast. But, once I got it done, just did not like the way it turned out. Know that he wouldn't mind but I thought the action was a little too stiff for him - he's a zebco-202/diawa silvercast kind of guy and likes the feel of lite, slow fiberglass. Also, as a new rod builder, it was really not the quality I wanted to give my Dad (or anyone else for that matter) - some of you will notice..

So, I am keeping it. Feels nice and outcasts a BassPro 6' XPS that I have.

Anyway, here it is. Making another for him and will get the pics up once complete.

A little fancier than ole 22 typically knows!!  ...lol  The beauty of our addiction is that even when we "miss" our mark, which happens to all of us on occasion, we usually still end up way ahead of the factory.   :)

Looking forward to the next round of pics!

Very nice!

I would give it a solid 10 .

I'll bet if you showed that to your father, he would not let you have it back no matter what the power or tip action was.

Again a very nice looking rod..

Get up the great work..

Tight Wraps!  :)

Its still a very nice rod. Don't beat yourself up.

No doubt, love the cork design.

Funny how you get one finished and you find that one little detail that is not what you envisioned. Makes me want to chuck it and start over. The rod looks great to me. I agree with RM and I bet your dad will love it.

I used to build rods years ago.  I built my dad a 2 rods, one was a Loomis and the other was a St. Croix.  The rods are so old that I offered to buy him a new Loomis but he said HECK NO.  He won't give up those 2 rods I built for nothing.

Give it to your dad, I'm sure he will love it.

Thanks, guys.  Sincerely appreciate the kind words and encouragement.  Means a lot to me.

I have started another one for him.  It is not as nice a blank but has the action I think he will like a lot more.

Thaniks,

Eddie
