Seibert Jigs - Dredge Serues: Arky Vs Brush

Featured Replies

Going to try to get into jig fishing. Decided to go with Sieberts jigs in the Dredge series. But, being new to Jigs, not sure where each, the arky and brush jig, excel. I fish clear water, no "brush" per se, or a lot of rock. Mainly weeds, from moderate to thick, but not so thick that you would have to punch. Did drop a line to Sieberts on their site for their input, but always like to hear from the guys on this forum to. So if you have used both or either one, let me know how you you decide when to use one over the other, or if just one of them would meet my needs and not the other. Thanks!

If you plan to cast and retrieve the jig similar to a Teaxs rigged worm, the jig head shape should be a grass jig shaped like a bullet weight with hook eye at the tip of the nose. Both Arkie and a brush jigs have the hook eye near the jig head nose, weeds tend to get trapped between the line and jig. Between the Arkie and brush head, the brush should go through weeds a little better with recessed hook eye and it's a stand up design when on the bottom.

The bullet, swim, and punch heads are all great when weeds are a factor. I drag a 1/2 oz punch jig through grass and swim it in pads. Also, wire tied is the best 25 cents you'll ever spend.

Try a couple of different heads to find the best fit for your type of fishing..

Right now I am experimenting with the Siebert Grid Iron and have been

impressed!
